... And looking back at our photos, I see us: our quirkiness, our just-married excitement, and our personality ...

Q – What were you looking for in a photographer, and how did you find that in Evan?

A – When we first started researching wedding photographers, we were initially pretty discouraged. There seemed to be a certain “look” out there, and it felt too polished and posed for us. A coworker learned I got engaged, and told me about Evan. When we opened up her website and started looking through her gallery, I could honestly see US in her pictures. Evan gives a creative and artistic twist to the industry, and “industry” is definitely not a word that fits with her vibe. She has the inviting personal connection of a small business with all of the professionalism you’d expect from a larger company. And NONE of the awkward, grit-your-teeth poses

Q – What was Evan able to do to put you at ease and help foster trust during your experience?

A – Evan is an easy-going creative. I have always felt uncomfortable with being photographed professionally –“insanely awkward” and “clumsy” are good descriptors. Not really knowing how to pose, if I should pose, how to pose — all are questions you don’t want to be distracted with when you are trying to enjoy the beauty of what happens on your wedding day. But Evan made us both feel very comfortable in front of the camera. She gave us just enough guidance so that we didn’t feel awkward, but also did a great job at allowing space for us to be ourselves. There would be some moments where she gave no instruction, and just shot. And looking back at our photos, I see us: our quirkiness, our just-married excitement, and our personality.

Q – What was Evan’s shooting style like and did she make it FUN to take photos?

A – For our engagement shoot, we met Evan out on a trail in Arkansas. As we hiked up to the shoot destination, we had a relaxed and enjoyable conversation with her. And by the time we got to the top, I felt like I’d known her for a long time. Having her take pictures of us didn’t feel intrusive – it just felt like we were hanging out with a friend. She did a few guided shots, but also left room for us to make suggestions, and for us to just be “normal”

Q – How did you feel about your final gallery?

A – Both my husband and I teared up. Her photos did a beautiful job at capturing the emotion of that wonderful day in July, and we remembered all the love we received from our friends and family. I have probably clicked through the gallery at least 15 times since receiving the link, and still have trouble picking out my favorites. There was a point in the ceremony (several, actually) where both Ben and I were sobbing with the weight and the beauty of what our commitment meant. When we found those photos, we both had to pause for a sec and think about the beauty of marriage, and how it’s been for us since that day.

        5. All in all, would you recommend Evan to future brides? Tell us why!

We did the engagement/wedding package with Evan, and couldn’t be more happy. Evan is easy to reach (she responds to emails!!) and was so fun to work with. We both felt so comfortable with the experience, and I totally recommend her to any couples out there wanting a special, artsy, not-like-every-wedding-photo-you’ve-ever-seen, photo experience. Thanks Evan!

... I really feel Evan captured the very essence of my wedding day ... Looking through the gallery brought happy tears to my eyes; it brings me right back to one of the best days of my life!

Q – What were you looking for in a photographer, and how did you find that in Evan?

A – I was looking for a photographer who I knew I could trust with my wedding. I only plan to get married once so it was so so important to me to know that our photographer was going to get, not only good but, great shots. With all the stress of wedding planning I didn’t want to worry about managing another person. I’d seen Evan’s work in the past and so I knew she would get those quiet, in between moments, as well as the bigger, louder ones. Evan was fantastic. I couldn’t be happier honestly.

Q – Trust is so important between the client and the photographer, what was Evan able to do to put you at ease and help foster trust during your experience?

A – Evan was in touch with me throughout the planning process and even made a photography schedule for the wedding. That helped me not to worry about when we would take what pictures, or to fret over if we’d have enough time for all the shots I wanted to get. With the schedule, nobody  in the wedding party or family ended up being confused about the pictures either, which was so great!

Q – What was Evan’s shooting style like and did she make it FUN to take photos? Or did it make you want to pull your teeth out?

A – Evan was just lovely. She’s laid back and easy going. Especially for our first look, that was so perfect, because me and my soon-to-be husband could just be natural with eachother. At the same time, she gave guiding direction. That was great, since we didn’t always exactly know what to do, or what would “look good.” Might I say though, Evan made us look great!

Q –  How did you feel about your final gallery? (Feel free to share the feelings + experiences you had when you were able to sit down and look at your gallery for the FIRST time)

A – I am so happy about my gallery. Something I really appreciated was that she was really quick taking family photos after our ceremony. Evan so, not one of those pictures ended up being ruined by someone blinking of failing to smile. They were all perfect, and some of the shots were of big groups! Needless to say I was very pleased. There were more pictures than I thought there would be, and I really feel Evan captured the very essence of my wedding day. She took pictures of not only the people, but also the things that shaped the evening. Looking through the gallery brought happy tears to my eyes; it brings me right back to one of the best days of my life!

Q – All in all, would you recommend Evan to future brides? Tell us why!

A – Without a doubt I would. I loved having Evan at our wedding, and I love love love my pictures. I will cherish them forever, and I have Evan to thank for doing such a fantastic job of capturing our special day!
